Lesson Plan Ideas

—Douglas Armendarez: Adjunct Associate Professor of English (20+ Years), High Scool English Teacher (29+ Years).

You’ve come to the page where I share lesson plan ideas. The idea for this page came from a combination between the title of my book, and the name of this site, Throat Punch Lessons, and a super inappropriate line from Get Him to the Greek, which I won’t quote, since it came from the mouth of P Diddy, which has not aged well on several levels. But I will say the sentiment was to completely shift ones mindset, from what might be typical to something insightful, or even just surprising; it strikes me as a reminder of the types of lessons that stay with people, the types that become unforgettable guideposts for thought and action, the types of lessons to be stived for.

When we can, taking students through activities that open up their minds and discover new ways of seeing ideas, and maybe even the world, at best in surprising and/or unexpected ways, is what makes for an impactful educational experience.

Very few of the lesson ideas will hit the highest point of that goal, but at the very least some students might gain insight, or experience a more active classroom experience.

My aim is to share lesson ideas here, with the idea that you are welcome to steal those ideas, and/or add your consturctive criticism to them, or you can buy a completed version of any of those lessons.
