For all you teachers. This is a great book for those days you feel like you are hitting a teaching rut, and you need to do something to mix it up. Sol Stein’s Stein on Writing gives useful writing advice, that is specific and usable right away. I loved the sections on using fiction techniques to improve your nonfiction writing. Amazon LInk to Buy

Self-Editing For Fiction Writers is another book that lends itself to picking up some great fiction techniques, like scene writing and dialogue, that will also benefit you in writing better anecdotes in your nonfiction efforts. Amazon Link to Buy

Peter Elbow is famous in the world of teaching writing. He and Donald Murray were both pushed as leaders of writing instruction, at least back when I was in graduate school. This is a solid book in terms of teaching writing, but also another writing book that gives solid advice on what makes your own writing more compelling. Amazon Link to Buy
